Dr. Shibani Sahni is a Harvard University-trained dental educator and faculty member who teaches in many countries, including the United States of America, Australia, India, Greece, and many others. She is a global leader in impacting dental education and changing the future of dentistry through evidence-based curriculum and pedagogy, with 24 years of experience.
Dr. Sahni works closely with universities in the United States, India, and Australia. She is the founder of AADE and GADE and is impacting the future generation of dentists by incorporating new technologies, curriculum, and AI to achieve precision in dentistry and improve patient care. She was a Professor of Comprehensive Care and the Director of CE/Center of Lifelong Learning and Distance Education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine for many years, where she also founded the Global Academy of Dental Education and the Executive Academy of Dental Education. She completed her master’s in Dental Education at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) and her postgraduate studies in Restorative Dentistry at Adelaide Dental School in Australia. She is an alumna of Harvard Macy and has completed the Innovation in Healthcare and Education Program for Leading Innovations in Health Care and Education, as well as Health Care Education: Transforming the Teaching for the Digital Age, from Harvard Medical School. She is a thought leader and has advanced her own education by also training in Leadership by Design through MIT Sloan Executive Education. She holds a certificate in Leadership and Management from MIT Sloan School. Dr. Sahni is a lifelong learner herself and has achieved certification in Career Advancement and Leadership Skills for Women in Healthcare from Harvard Medical School and is trained in Leadership Strategies for Evolving Health Care Executives from Harvard Chan School.
Dr. Sahni is a dedicated and passionate faculty member, dentist, and educator. She was a full-time faculty member at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she led the Scholars in Dental Education program for DMD students who are interested in pursuing their careers in Dental Education and academic dentistry. She was involved in both the MMSc program as a mentor and faculty member, and in the predoctoral DMD program as a clinical educator and course director of the Diagnosis and Treatment Planning course at HSDM.
She has also been a full-time faculty member at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she has held many administrative leadership roles. She started the Global Academy at TUSDM for global outreach and to spread evidence-based and well-researched dental education internationally. She took robust programming to Asia-Pacific and Europe, thus training the world’s dentists. She also started the Executive Academy to help dentists and academic leaders develop soft skills for their success. She established mini and maxi residencies, along with short courses, symposia, and many global programs in countries such as Australia, Greece, India, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Mexico, to name a few.
She was also the founder and Director of the Tufts Global Implant Symposium, thus providing updates on advances in implant dentistry to her peers.She has also been recognized for her work nationally and internationally for her new and novel approach to teaching and learning, where she created courses on AI, its current trends in dentistry, and its future direction, and has been invited to speak about AI and its clinical applications in Germany and India. Dr. Sahni is a keynote speaker and has spoken at national meetings such as ADEA about the approaches and methodologies used behind the programming. She has been invited for many years by the Greater New York Dental Congress to give an update on AI and advances in dentistry and has presented the changes that AI is bringing to healthcare and dentistry to improve patient care.
Dr. Shibani Sahni is very well published and has articles in peer-reviewed journals such as JDE about the programs launched and international summits directed by her. She has also been the director of Diagnosis and Treatment Planning for residents in public health.
Dr. Sahni is an extremely talented and accomplished dentist with over 24 years of experience in the dental field. She has had extensive experience in various areas of dentistry, including dental process improvements, dental procedure advancements, and quality assurance programs. As the owner of her own practice, she has also had experience with business operations and strategies. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dental Sciences (FAADS), a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (FICD), and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists (FACD). Dr. Sahni has made a great impact on dentistry, dental education, and industry over the last 24 years in the fields of business management, technology development, research, and academics. She continues to make a difference locally, nationally, and internationally and is collaborating with countries, specialists, and industry leaders across the globe for the constant improvement of the profession for the benefit of patient care. Dr. Sahni is looking towards the future and is helping to create educational programs to understand the use of Artificial Intelligence and digitalization in dentistry, its current trends, use, and future direction.
